The gas giants are around opposition now. I finally ordered some equipment to do planetary imaging, including a Televue 3x barlow, ZWO ADC, and ZWO ASI183MC. Last night was the first clear night I got to try the new equipment. The ADC was a little tricky to guess at, so I will need a definitive way to align it, perhaps a half-aperture mask to determine the horizon in the camera view. I can also tell that I am a bit oversampled at around f/16 with the 2.4μm pixels. The seeing was pretty abysmal, but I do like what I was able to get with the first experiment with this new equipment.
