I’ve spent the last couple of months focused on other household projects, and the observatory needed it’s yearly maintenance. While waiting for the next new moon, I decided to brush up my processing skills on some old data from 2021.
The Iris Nebula is a reflection nebula in Cepheus that is illuminated by the intense radiation from the hot main sequence star HD 200775. The surrounding field of interstellar dust really pops with my improved stretching and contrast enhancement skills.
The Bubble nebula and open cluster M52 lie in a rich star field in Cassiopeia. The Bubble is the result of the stellar wind of the massive hot star SAO 20575 and it is surrounded by a molecular cloud.
